Metairie's Dependable Concrete & Fencing Contractor

Metairie is the heart of residential Jefferson Parish - a big suburb full of mid-century ranch homes, updated two-story houses, and busy commercial strips. Many of these properties are due for new concrete and fencing - and that is exactly the work we do best.

Driving in from our Slidell base, we bring the same Northshore work ethic and attention to detail to every Metairie project. We might be tearing out a failing driveway on Transcontinental Drive, pouring a new patio near Lafreniere Park, or running a privacy fence along a lot line. Either way, we treat every Metairie job like it's in our own neighborhood.

Concrete & Fencing in Metairie

Driveway replacements, patios, pool decks, and fences for Metairie homes, with a written quote before any work begins.

Why Metairie Residents Choose Us

Suburban Lot Expertise

Metairie lots bring their own challenges - narrow side yards, mature landscaping, and aging concrete and utility lines. Our crew works well in tight spaces and around what's already there, and still delivers clean, exact results.

Driveway Replacement Specialists

With decades-old homes, Metairie is a hotspot for driveway replacements. We tear out the old slab, re-grade the base, and pour fresh concrete with proper joints and reinforcement. The worn-out concrete becomes a driveway you'll be proud of.

Clear, Written Quotes

Every Metairie estimate comes as a written quote, so you know what the work includes and what it costs before anything starts.

Metairie Neighborhoods We Serve

No two Metairie neighborhoods pour the same way. Lot size, truck access, and how wet the ground stays all change from one area to the next.

Old Metairie & Metairie Club Gardens

Established homes near Metairie Road and the lake, many built mid-century on narrow lots shaded by mature oaks. The original driveways and front walks here are often decades old and ready for replacement. Truck access can be tight, so some concrete has to be placed by wheelbarrow or buggy, and wood privacy fencing has to fit the older lot lines.

Bucktown & the Lakefront

Right up against the lake and the 17th Street Canal, which means a high water table and soft soil. Driveways, patios, and pool decks here get extra base and careful drainage slopes so water sheds away from the slab rather than ponding. Slabs on this ground call for reinforcement.

Country Club Gardens & Bonnabel Place

Classic 1950s to 1970s ranch subdivisions off Bonnabel and Veterans. Many of the original driveways have reached the end of their life. Several pockets have HOA-style covenants, so we put together the review package before the pour. Chain link and wood fencing are both common along these lot lines.

Transcontinental & West Esplanade

A dense residential grid of post-war homes, many of them ready for a driveway replacement, walkway repair, or a fence along the subdivision boundary. Lots are close together, so we plan the pour and the fence layout carefully around neighbors, utilities, and existing landscaping.

Elmwood & River Ridge

Along the river on the west end of the parish, with a mix of residential and light commercial property and generally larger lots. Truck access tends to be easier here, and the bigger lots have room for RV and boat pads and longer fence runs. We also pour commercial flatwork and sidewalks.

Harahan & Old Jefferson

Older established neighborhoods just east and west of Metairie proper. Settled mid-century driveways and walkways are common here, and so are wood and chain link fences. The soft soil and high water table call for the same careful base prep we use across Jefferson Parish.

Pouring Concrete on Jefferson Parish Soil

Most of Jefferson Parish sits at or below sea level on soft, water-holding river-delta soil. Concrete that ignores that keeps cracking and settling. Concrete that accounts for it holds up far better, and that difference is almost entirely in the base preparation and the drainage, not the slab you see on top.

On a settled Metairie property, a surface patch rarely solves anything. We remove the failing slab and dig down to firm ground. We rebuild the base with extra packed gravel - plus a layer of fabric over very soft clay - then pour a reinforced new slab at the right height. We slope every slab to drain away from the house, space the control joints to handle seasonal movement, and add rebar wherever the ground calls for it.

Drainage across the parish is pump-based, so getting the surface fall right matters as much as the slab itself. We design driveways, patios, and walks to move water toward the street or yard drains rather than letting it pool against the concrete or the home.

  • Soft alluvial soil: Extra excavation, compacted gravel base, and reinforcement on every pour.
  • High water table: Elevated slab and drainage slopes that work with the parish pump system.
  • Settled older slabs: Full replacement at the correct elevation, not patches over a failing base.
  • Aging mid-century driveways: 1950s to 1970s subdivisions across Metairie that are due for replacement.
  • HOA subdivisions: Review packages prepared when a subdivision such as Country Club Gardens or Bonnabel Place requires one.
  • Hurricane-season scheduling: Pours planned around named-storm forecasts from June through November.

"When my job started, I worked with Gerardo and his crew who all were AMAZING! They are all incredibly hard workers, giving attention to all of the details I hadn’t even considered. ... I didn’t think I would ever get excited about a concrete job- but my large driveway and sidewalks being paved, has added big curb appeal to my property."

Mari Hanson - Driveway & Sidewalks

"Venture Concrete did an excellent job replacing my front porch and sidewalk with concrete. All the details of the job were made very clear. Everything they said they were going to do they did. I am very happy with the results."

Catherine Dee - Front Porch & Sidewalk

"I couldn't be there to review the plan but they followed my instruction and then some adding some shape and design to the footprint. They cleaned the area well and left the concrete finish very neat and clean."

Metairie Service Area FAQ

Do you serve Metairie and Jefferson Parish?
Yes. Metairie is part of our service area, about 35 to 40 minutes from our Slidell shop via I-10. We work across Jefferson Parish. That includes Bucktown and Old Metairie near the lake, Elmwood and River Ridge along the river, and everywhere along Veterans Boulevard and West Esplanade.
Can you replace my Metairie driveway?
Absolutely. Many Metairie homes in Country Club Gardens, Bonnabel Place, and the Transcontinental Drive area went up in the 1950s to 1970s. Their original driveways are showing their age - cracking, settling, and worn surfaces. We tear out the old driveway, rebuild the base, and pour new, reinforced concrete, finished with a clean broom texture for grip and curb appeal.
My older Metairie driveway has cracked and settled. Should I repair it or replace it?
Once a slab has dropped more than about an inch in any direction, replacement is almost always the right call. Patching the surface does not fix a failed base, and the soft Jefferson Parish ground underneath keeps moving. We remove the failing slab and rebuild the base with extra packed gravel, adding a layer of fabric over very soft clay when needed. Then we pour a reinforced new slab at the right height, sloped so water drains away from the house. The new slab is built to handle the soil it sits on rather than fight it.
How thick should my Metairie driveway or slab be?
For a standard home driveway we pour a 4-inch slab with wire mesh or fiber reinforcement. Where the ground is soft - and in Metairie it often is - we add rebar. Slabs that carry heavier loads, like an RV pad or a workshop floor, get poured at 5 to 6 inches with a rebar grid. The base underneath matters as much as the thickness. We run a compacted gravel base, deeper on soft or wet lots, so the slab is sitting on free-draining stone instead of damp clay.
How do you handle Metairie's high water table and soft soil?
Three things. First, we dig deeper and lay extra packed gravel so the slab rests on stone, not damp clay. Second, we set the slab a little higher than the ground around it and slope it so water runs off instead of pooling - working with the parish pump drainage, not against it. Third, we place the joints right and cure the slab the same day so it handles wet and dry seasons. These are the steps that keep a Jefferson Parish slab from settling and cracking early.
Is concrete or pavers better for a Metairie driveway?
We pour concrete, and for most Metairie driveways it holds up better over time. A properly reinforced concrete slab is one solid surface. There are no gaps for weeds to grow through, and no single pavers to shift or sink in soft Jefferson Parish soil. It is also lower maintenance, a periodic clean and seal is about all it needs. Pavers have their place for some patios and walks, but for a daily-use driveway on this soil, reinforced concrete is the more durable choice.
Do you pour sidewalks, walkways, and pool decks in Metairie?
Yes. Along with driveways we install concrete sidewalks, walkways, steps, patios, pool decks, and equipment pads across Metairie. Pool decks get a slip-resistant broom finish and proper slope so water sheds away from the pool, and walkways and steps are built to consistent, safe dimensions.
What about HOA requirements in Metairie subdivisions?
Many Metairie neighborhoods have HOA rules for fences, driveways, and other outside changes - including Country Club Gardens, Bonnabel Place, Metairie Club Estates, and subdivisions along Transcontinental and West Esplanade. Before we start, we read your HOA rules so our plans follow them, and we put together the package the review board needs. We can also coordinate directly with your HOA board if approval is required before work begins.
Do you handle Jefferson Parish permits for concrete work?
Jefferson Parish runs its own permitting process, separate from Orleans Parish, and we know it well. We explain what your project needs and give you everything for the filing - the site plan, material specs, and any drawings. For home projects, you or your general contractor file as the owner, and we work with the parish during the build and at inspections.
How soon can you get out to Metairie for an estimate?
Call or text with your Metairie address and a short description of the project. We can discuss estimate availability and whether to start with photos and measurements or arrange a site visit. The quote should identify the agreed work and any site-access or approval requirements.
